I like the idea, but everything I have seen with deepfakes is solo only. Is it even possible to do 2 girls in the same video?
I don't think it will be as difficult as you might think. The real trick I think is to find the right video with the two participants who have similar looks & body types. I'm unsure of the exact capabilities of the deepfake app but from what I understand there's nothing technically precluding the possibility of it being applied to multiple people, whether at once, or by splitting/masking the video in half and then stitching them together afterwards. Even if noone has ever done it before, I think a contest like this would help drive further investigation on how to do it

... On the other, I'm a little afraid of any potential backlash - there's a lot a media attention on the concept of deepfakes and the like where I'm at, and I'm not sure if starting a contest (with a money prize) for such a matter in a time where this is in many parts of the world more than simply frowned upon is such a good idea...
I hear you on that, what the deepfake app seems to be capable of does give rise to some ethical questions. At the same time however, i believe that biggest concerns that people are having with the program is the fact that users are using underaged subjects and people they know (in real life, that is) without their consent. If limiting the subject matter to celebrities/porn stars and such I don't see this being much different then just photo manipulating still images. The only other concern i think people might have is that the creation of videos using the deepfake program might give the impression that the videos are genuine, not an edited video. This could be addressed by implicitly tagging/marking the video as fake, though the with the currently fantastical nature of TOH I feel already sort of precludes that and people already assume that (sadly) Emma Watson did not actually clone herself to have kinky sweaty selfcest sex with herself -

Good idea. But if it will be involve some of copyright issue? Espeically with a money prize?
I don't believe there will be an issue with copyright. As with the previous contest, we wouldn't claim ownership of either the submission or original source video(s) and we don't intend to monetize the results either. It's more like we are rewarding the participant's skill as reflected in their submission.
I hear you BvR haha. Does make sense what you're saying. Will look into it if I too can participate financially for the jury duty, otherwise I'll just have to make do with seeing what others come up with :3

Other than my own previous concern, I am 100 percent behind this idea. The only other question I would have is how do we reach out to people who actually use deep fake? This is more specialized than the art contest was.

You boys and your toys...

Send it to me when it’s finished!

PS, it’s a million times easier to use celebrities, so let me know if you want suggestions!

Personally I can't really support the idea but I can't stop everyone else from doing so. I'm mainly concerned about the attention this tech is getting and bringing that to the forum would be unwanted to say the least. That's just my two cents about it.

Gotta agree with droid on this one. I know what I said about Scarlett Johansson, and as nice as it would be to see it, this program has been pretty controversial lately.

There does seem to be a few communities around that support people picking up the app and posting content, I imagine that it'd be more effective to specifically target those communities rather than have a general campaign as the previous art contest

Regarding concerns raised by droid and billy, perhaps if it was headed by a group/individual not necessarily (officially) connected with the bvr forum - like a third party that is. or (though definitely not optimal) if the resulting entries were made private to just the judging panel would help avoid possible backlash if people think the use of this program is still too hot for tv

might be kinda interesting to get on the news and make selfcest a topic of controversy

While I do not share the concerns of those who have voiced them, I do understand them. If there could be a happy middle ground, maybe it would be something along the line of making it a general video competition. In the write up it could be listed that drawn animations, SFM, 3D renders, and yes- deep fakes are all accepted forms of submissions. That would allow those who are able to submit that content to do so, and allow a wider net to also be cast. All in all I support this direction at the very least.

I would also totally support Deershanks idea, however I believe that the idea behind a deepfake contest is that it is a new exciting way to make the most realistic looking toh videos possible. Opening it to other entries kind of defeats the purpose of drawing deepfake entries.

You raise a good counterpoint

Are we going through with this idea? I was pretty excited about a deepfakes contest.
